What is the Portfolio tab for?
Portfolio defines which packaging materials Hive is allowed to use.
Available settings depend on your plan and may include:
- Outer packaging (custom + Hive Standard Material)
- Filling material
- Tape
- Stickers
- Silk paper
If a material is deactivated here, Hive will not suggest or use it.
Why do I see usage numbers and inventory levels?
Portfolio shows:
- Usage over the last 30 days (with comparison to the previous 30 days)
- Inventory levels per fulfillment center
This helps you:
- Forecast packaging needs
- Monitor consumption trends
- Identify rarely used materials
What happens if my custom box is out of stock?
Hive does not stop fulfillment due to packaging stock-outs.
If a custom box is unavailable:
- Hive Standard Material will be used as fallback.
For operational continuity, we recommend keeping at least one Hive Standard box enabled.
Can I mix custom boxes and Hive Standard Material?
Yes. This is recommended as a fallback strategy to:
- Avoid oversized shipments
- Prevent operational disruptions
Can I disable filling material, tape, or stickers for specific boxes?
Yes.
You can:
- Set global defaults in Portfolio
Override behavior for specific boxes using box-level settings
(e.g., self-closing mailers, boxes with built-in inlays)
How often should I review Packaging settings?
- During initial rollout: weekly.
- Once stable: monthly or after major SKU or packaging changes.
- Always review after launching new products or new box sizes.
