Extra tasks are activities outside our standard operational procedures (picking, packing, processing returns, etc.) that are invoiced at the hourly rate for manual labor stated in the contract. These are special requests that require additional work beyond the agreed-upon scope of services and need extra capacity allocation.
How are extra tasks charged?
Extra tasks are billed at your contract's hourly rate based on time spent. The charges appear on your invoice under these categories in the "Fulfillment" section, depending on where the task was performed:
- Orders extra tasks
- Restocking extra tasks
- Inventory extra tasks
- Returns extra tasks
The only exception is SKU disposal, which is invoiced as follows:
Non-dangerous goods
Including manual labor & any other costs as they can be put into the trash containers at the fulfillment centers:
- Pallets: 85 EUR per pallet
- Less than a pallet: Based on the hourly rate for manual labor
Dangerous goods
The below estimates include the disposal company & Hive's fees
- Pallets: Ranges between 100–300 EUR per pallet
- Less than a pallet: No range available; cost will be a fraction of the range per pallet above
What is considered as Orders Extra tasks?
- SKU barcode labeling - Attaching barcode stickers to products on a B2B order (Hive barcodes or specific barcode as requested)
- Brand specific parcel/pallet labeling - Printing and attaching specific labels to cartons on B2B orders
- Restocked order after packing - Unpacking, sorting, and restocking orders when an unexpected cancellation is required
- Extra information request - Measuring master cartons and providing additional information
- Repalletizing a packed order - Rearranging pallets after packing when necessary
- Modification of shipment - Removing specific SKUs from packaging upon request after an order has been packed
- Repacking from supplier box - Transferring items from supplier boxes according to specifications
- Quality check request - Performing specific quality checks (e.g., verifying correct labels or packaging colors)
- Delayed B2B pick-up - Handling orders not picked up within 5 days of scheduled pick-up date
What is considered as Restocking Extra Tasks?
- Container unloading - Time taken for unloading boxes from containers
- Processing unannounced shipments - Time taken to sort, photograph, report internally, and count units from shipments
- Processing unannounced SKUs - Time taken to sort, photograph, report internally, and count units of specific SKUs
- Sorting mixed SKU pallets - When pallets arrive with mixed SKUs and cartons are not labeled with SKU information
- Sorting mixed SKU boxes - When boxes arrive containing mixed SKUs instead of single SKU
- Repalletizing non-suitable pallets - When goods arrive on one-way or UK pallets requiring repalletizing
- Delays in restocking - When unannounced restocking pallets/cartons that are ready for fulfillment remain on hold for >72 hours
Any non conformity with our standard restocking guidelines stated here that requires manual tasks to be done, will be invoiced in this category.
What is considered as Inventory Extra Tasks?
- Inventory counting - Requests to count inventory
- Information retrieval - Recording time spent gathering and providing extra SKU information
- Disposal of SKUs - Time taken to collect goods, palletize them, coordinate with disposal company, and create documentation. This task is invoiced as follows:

- De-kitting - Separating bundled inventory products upon request
- Inventory moves - Relocating SKUs or inventory between different fulfillment center locations
- Inventory discrepancy resolution - Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies flagged from supplier stock
- Quality checks - Performing additional quality inspections for SKUs, shipments, or inventory as requested
What is considered as Returns Extra Tasks?
- Processing unannounced Amazon returns - Handling returns that arrive without prior notification through Amazon's return system
- Sorting unidentifiable returns - Time spent identifying and sorting returns that lack proper documentation or labeling
- Special returns processing requirements - Performing custom handling, inspection, or processing of returns according to previously agreed specific brand requests
